Australia’s hard-hitting batter Chris Lynn has registered himself as one of the marquee players for the inaugural edition of UAE’s International League T20. However, in order to go ahead with the tournament, the cricketer will also be requiring a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia.

Lynn is unlikely to receive the certificate from the Australian board, considering their 2022-23 Big Bash League season will be coinciding with the upcoming ILT20 event.

Ian Chappell backs Lynn, says he would have sued CA

“To me, you then go back to the World Series Cricket days, where they took the board to court over restraint of trade. Is it a restraint of trade? In Chris Lynn’s case, if he hasn’t got a contract with Cricket Australia or Cricket Queensland, what’s to stop him? If I was Chris Lynn and I wanted to play in the UAE I’d take them to court. I don’t think Cricket Australia would have a hope in hell. It’s got to be a restraint of trade. You’re not contracting him, but you’re not letting him play either”.

2022-23 International League T20 updates

The first season of the ILT20 is slated to be played between January and February next year. As many as six teams will be competing in the tournament. Quite recently, UAE Cricket added several new names in their Marquee list, including the likes of Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran and Dwayne Bravo.
