The second edition of The Hundred is all set to start off on August 11. Winners Oval Invincibles will take on the Northern Superchargers in the first clash of the tournament.

In the first edition of the 100-ball tournament, some of the women played some explosive knocks and showed extraordinary power-hitting abilities to give a new shape to Women’s cricket. Let’s have a look at the five best individual batting scores in the history of the competition.

1. Jemimah Rodrigues vs Welsh Fire: 92*

The pocket dynamo of India, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 249 runs in the first edition of the Hundred at a strike rate of 150.51 making her the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament. What gained everyone's attention was Rodrigues's fine knock of unbeaten 92 runs off 43 deliveries against Welsh Fire which included 17 boundaries and one maximum that helped Superchargers win after a shaky start.

2. Smriti Mandhana vs Welsh Fire: 78

Another Indian on this list is Smriti Mandhana, whose knock of 78 runs from 52 deliveries against Welsh Fire was one of the finest knocks by her in a long time. The Indian Women's team opener, Mandhana smashed three sixes and seven fours during her time in the middle. Despite not having an ideal tournament, Mandhana scored 167 runs in the first edition at a strike rate of 133.60.

3. Shafali Verma vs Welsh Fire: 76*

India's explosive opener Shafali Verma scored 171 runs in the first edition of the tournament at a strike rate of 142.50. Verma's knock of unbeaten 76 runs just from 42 deliveries helped Birmingham Phoenix demolish Welsh Fire by 10 wickets. She hit nine fours and two sixes which helped Phoenix chase the target of 127 runs off 76 balls.

4. Rachel Priest vs London Spirit: 76

New Zealand's veteran opener, Rachel Priest scored 76 runs from 42 balls which helped her team Trent Rockets become the first team to register 150 plus on the scoreboard. Priest's fierce knock included ten boundaries and four huge maximums.

5. Laura Wolvaardt vs Manchester Originals: 75*

The Proteas opener, Laura Wolvaardt had an impressive outing at the first edition of The Hundred where she scored 181 runs at the strike-rate of 116.77. However, Laura's commendable knock of unbeaten 75 runs off 51 deliveries which consisted ten boundaries and one six against Manchester Originals singlehandedly helped her team Superchargers attain victory.

Despite not having a few international star players in the first edition of The Hundred, the women's competition was certainly at par with the men's game in all three departments. However, in the 2022 edition, some of the star players of Australia, New Zealand and India will be making their debuts in the competition which will surely help the tournament reach new heights.
