Mysore found themselves on the unlucky side of the rain against Mangalore

Mangalore United continued their winning run in the ongoing Maharaja T20 Trophy 2022, trouncing Mysore Warriors by 8 runs (via VJD method) in the rain-affected fixture on Monday, August 8.

Chasing a trifling target of 114 runs to win in 14 overs, after Mysore's total of 112/5 (in 16.3 overs) was revised per the VJD system, Mangalore United got off to a decent start with openers cobbling up a 26-run stand for the opening wicket.

Skipper Ravi Samarth was batting at an unbeaten 31 off 20 deliveries while Abhinav Manohar tucked 14 off 8 with the United scorecard reading 63/2 before the Rain Gods again intervened.

Later, as the rain refused to relent, the officials decided to announce the winner via the VJD method, according to which Mangalore United needed 56/2 after eight overs and by the time rain interfered, the batting side was way ahead of the par total.

Earlier, Mysore Warriors posted 112/5 in 16.3 overs with opener Nihal Ullal top scoring with a 28-ball 48 which included four boundaries and three towering sixes.

Mangalore United, however, made a sharp comeback in the middle overs to reduce the opposition to 112/5 in 16.3 overs before the match was interrupted due to constant drizzle.

Rohit Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for the United as he scalped two wickets in his quota of four overs. HS Sharath, M Venkatesh and M Hadley also snared one wicket apiece.

It was the second consecutive victory for Mangalore United, which saw them cruise to the top of the points ranking. Speaking of Mysore Warriors, the team succumbed to their first defeat of the season after starting their tournament with a victory. Currently, they occupy the third position in the league table.
