Reports: Stephen Fleming to lead Joburg Super Kings

According to the latest reports, Stephen Fleming is set to be the head coach of the Joburg Super Kings in the inaugural edition of South Africa's home-grown T20 League. 

A few weeks back, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the other five IPL franchise owners snapped up the six teams, which would participate in the CSA T20 League. The tournament is slated to be played in January-February next year. 

The four-time IPL champions CSK acquired the Johannesburg-based franchise, with Wanderers Stadium as their home venue. 

In this aspect, the major revelation about their coaching staff for the league has been making rounds on the internet. 


CSK Coaching Staff to join Joburg Super Kings in January

The report mentions that the CSK coaching staff will join the Joburg Super Kings squad in January. After the culmination of the tournament, they will depart to India for the IPL duties.

Along with Fleming as head, Michael Hussey is the batting coach and Lakshmipathy Balaji dons the role of bowling coach in the CSK team. 


“We are looking at different names – like the Jozi Super Kings, Johannesburg Super Kings, but it looks like the team will be called the Joburg Super Kings,” a source told Rapport.

“They will play in yellow clothes and the current CSK coaching staff will simply come here in January to do duty before the IPL starts”, the source added. 


Franchise owners not interested to secure the services of Pakistan cricketers

The six IPL franchise owners, who now own the team in the CSA T20 league do not want any involvement of the Pakistan players, fearing the retaliation of the Indian fans. 

One of the franchise owners thinks the public sentiment will be crucial for the big investment ready to be infused into the newest T20 league.
