England women's pacer Katherine Brunt has been reprimanded by the ICC after breaching their code of conduct during the CWG 2022 T20I semi-final game between England and India on Saturday.

During the semi-final clash in Birmingham yesterday, Brunt was found using inappropriate language after India women all-rounder Deepti Sharma was handed a lifeline because of a dropped catch. The incident occurred in the 17th over of the first innings.

The 37-year-old was found to have breached Article 2.3. Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, relates to using of an audible obscenity during an international game.

On-field umpires present for the all-important knockout clash - Eloise Sheridan and Kim Cotton, third umpire Claire Polosak and fourth umpire Shivani Mishra levelled the charge as ICC's representatives.

Brunt handed one demerit point for her on-field misconduct

There was no need for a formal hearing as Brunt admitted the offence and accepted the charges proposed by the member of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees - Shandre Fritz.

Alongside her official reprimand, the bowler has received one demerit point on her disciplinary record, Brunt now has two points against her name in this 24-month period. It is stated that if a player reaches four points, they are converted to suspension points and a ban is handed down.

An intriguing game of T20I cricket between both sides saw the Indian team hold their nerves and advance into the finals for the gold-medal match. England, however, will look to clinch the Bronze medal by defeating New Zealand in their last game of the CWG 2022.
