Both the players will serve as back-up options to the team, who are struggling with injury concerns in the ongoing 50-over series against Zimbabwe.

After compiling a well-made 81 off 89 in the first game, opener Litton Das sustained a hamstring injury and was ruled out for three-four weeks.

Furthermore, Mushfiqur Rahim received a blow on his thumb, and fast bowler Shoriful Islam left the field mid-way after the bowl struck on his knee.

"As there are a few injury concerns in the team, the team management has decided to send Naim and Ebadot to Zimbabwe in order to increase the squad depth. Both of them will be boarding flight today,"  said BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu to Daily Star.

BCB requests Asian Cricket Council to extend Asia Cup squad deadline

According to the latest reports, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has requested the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to extend the deadline for sending the final squad for the Asia Cup. The showpiece event will take place from 27 August to 11 September in UAE.

The deadline for the same is August 8, and the BCB still needs a little bit of time to reassess the injury concerns of its players. Along with Das, Rahim and Islam, key players like Mohammad Saifuddin and Yasir Ali are also suffering from injury concerns.

On 3 August, Pakistan was the first among the six participating teams to announce their squad for the event.
