Zimbabwe announce Squad for ODIs against Bangladesh, Regis Chakabva to lead

Wicket-keeper batter Regis Chakabva has been named the stand-in captain as Zimbabwe Cricket announced the 15-player squad for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.

The 34-year-old Harare-born cricketer will lead the side in the absence of Craig Ervine, who is sitting out as he looks to recover from multiple injuries and fatigue.

Apart from Ervine, Sean Williams is the other notable absentee from the 15-man squad. The 35-year-old batting all-rounder has not been included in the ODI squad for the three-match series as he has been given time off to attend some personal matters.

“Regis Chakabva will captain Zimbabwe in the three-match One-Day International series against Bangladesh, with regular skipper Craig Ervine sitting out as he looks to fully recuperate from the hamstring and knee niggles that he has been nursing,” said Zimbabwe Cricket in a statement.

Williams opts out of the series

“The hosts will also be without all-rounder Sean Williams, who has been granted permission by Zimbabwe Cricket to attend to some personal matters.”

While the veteran pair misses out, the duo of Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tarisai Musakanda have been roped in as replacements.

Ervine and Williams seem the like only absentees from the T20 series, as the rest of the squad comprises players who featured in Zimbabwe's victory over Bangladesh.

The two nations will square off in the first match on Friday (August 5) at Harare Sports Club, after which the last two will be held on Sunday and Wednesday next week.

Zimbabwe Squad For the three-match ODI Series vs Bangladesh:
