IND vs NZ | 2nd Test, Day 2: Ajaz Patel becomes only third bowler to take all 10 wickets in an innings

New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel registered his name in the history books of cricket by becoming only the third bowler to take all 10 wickets in an innings of a Test match after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.

He achieved the feat on the second day of the second Test against India in Mumbai. He dismissed Mohammed Siraj as India’s last wicket and received grand applause from all spectators at the Wankhede Stadium and also the Indian dressing room.

In the process, he also registered the best bowling figure for a New Zealand bowler beating the previous record of Sir Richard Hadlee, who had taken nine wickets for 52 runs.

He was born in Mumbai before his parent moved out of the city and country to New Zealand. He had talked about the nostalgia and emotions he felt while coming back to Mumbai which is called “maximum city” and he lived that spirit by achieving the maximum success for a bowler.

None of his 10 wickets came through a spell of good luck or on bad deliveries as he was the most threatening bowler among all Kiwi bowlers and a picture-perfect scorecard for him was truly deserving for his marathon efforts where he bowled 47 overs.
