  • Odi Series Win Over West Indies Should Not Go To Our Heads Bangladesh Skipper Tamim Iqbal

'ODI series win over West Indies should not go to our heads' - Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal

Bangladesh capped off the West Indies with an ODI series clean sweep over the hosts after losing the Tests and T20Is.

However, skipper Tamim Iqbal has warned his side not to go overboard with this win, knowing the conditions were more favourable to them than the Nicholas Pooran-led side.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Iqbal said, "Any away series win is always special. Our series win in South Africa was massive [too]. But I told my team that although winning in West Indies was a fantastic achievement, this series win should not go to our heads. It was held in conditions where there was too much help for the spinners. When we go overseas or even at home, you won't have this kind of help. We have to face more difficult challenges going forward."

I have to say Sohan was the leading performer: Tamim Iqbal

Tamim praised his players for upping their game in the unavailability of key players like Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim

The experienced opener hailed Nurul Hasan, who finished two back-to-back chases in the last two ODI matches.

"Those two [Shakib and Mushfiqur] are key players for us in any format. They have done so well for the country and achieved so much. The other guys had the opportunity in their absence. Sohan [Nurul] took it with both hands. He played unbelievably well. He has put up a very strong case going forward," the 33-year-old concluded.

The series win solidifies the Tigers' second position (120 points) in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League table, winning 12 and losing 6 out of their 18 games.

Bangladesh begins its Zimbabwe tour on July 30, which comprises three ODIs and as many T20Is.
