Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal flogged Mumbai Indians bowlers with a match-winning 104* at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 22. Opening the innings for his team in a chase of 180, the 22-year-old crafted crucial partnerships with in-form partner Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson as the Royals romped to an easy win with nine wickets and eight balls to spare.

After the match, Yashasvi reflected on his pre-game mindset and thanked the Rajasthan Royals team management as well as skipper Samson for allowing him to perform in the hallowed arena of IPL.

Yashasvi Jaiswal looks back at match-winning ton

While speaking with the commentators after the match, Yashasvi Jaiswal looked back at his century and claimed that he played without having “anything specific in mind”. He said:

“I think I really enjoyed it from the start. I was just trying to make sure that I was watching the ball properly and playing my cricketing shots, which I believe I did today. And I really enjoyed it. I'm just trying to keep doing what I do. Some days are tough, and some days are good. Today, I was just playing; I didn't have anything specific in my mind.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal also thanked the Rajasthan Royals team management, head coach Kumar Sangakkara and captain Sanju Samson for assisting him throughout the tournament. He added that he strives to make the most of his opportunities and has been grinding at the practice sessions off late.

“I really want to thank all my seniors who I've been through and the way they have guided me through these eight games has been amazing. Especially, I would like to thank Rajasthan Royals, Sanga sir, and Sanju bhai for believing in me, giving me all the opportunities, and ensuring that I'm trying my best in the practice sessions and on the ground, and learning from it. I'm just so happy when I go out there and enjoy my innings.”

Fresh from his match-winning century, Yashasvi Jaiswal will now reprise his role for the Rajasthan Royals franchise in their subsequent IPL 2024 challenge against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The much-awaited contest will be played on April 27 at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.
