In a thrilling encounter between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, one moment stood out vividly – Nehal Wadhera's fumble at deep extra cover.

The incident occurred in the 10th over of the match, where RR's opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, received a lifeline that proved to be costly for MI.

Despite a valiant effort from MI's bowler, Piyush Chawla, Jaiswal managed to dance down the pitch and slice the ball high towards long-off.

What followed next was a scene of despair for MI as Wadhera, stationed at deep extra cover, mistimed his jump to grab the regulation catch. Losing balance in the process, the ball ricocheted off his body and sailed over the fence for a six.

The stadium erupted into a mix of groans and cheers, with Jaiswal reaching his first half-century of the IPL 2024. The missed opportunity not only extended Jaiswal's innings but also boosted RR's morale, as they chased down a target set by MI.

Despite Wadhera's effort to backtrack and position himself for the catch, fate had a different outcome in store. The ball slipping through his grasp changed the course of the match, leaving MI in a precarious position.

At the time of writing, RR at 122 for 1 in 13 overs.
