Jaffna Kings secured a nine-wicket victory against the Dambulla Giants in Match 3 of Lanka Premier League 2022 at Hambantota.

Theekshana, Viyaskanth skittle Giants batting line-up

Giants opted to bat first and were off to a flyer with the charismatic display of English batter Jordan Cox. He slammed 43 off 22 and added 63 runs for the first wicket with Shevon Daniel (19) in less than eight overs.

Afterwards, Bhanuka Rajapaksa (18) could only be potent enough, as the rest of the line-up fell like a pack of cards. Dasun Shanaka (6) and Sikandar Raza (5) could not perform as per expectations.

Maheesh Theekshana and Vijay Viyaskanth picked three wickets apiece as Giants could score only 121 in their designated quota of 20 overs.

Kings seal an easy chase

In response to the chase of 122, Sadeera Sameerwickrama and Avishka Fernando were impressive in providing a stable start to the Kings. Both batters were smart in garnering odd boundaries and steering the team at more than an asking rate of 6.

Sadeera remained unbeaten on 62*  off 44 balls, while Fernando hit 51 off 49. Ashan Randika hit the winning boundary to secure a successive victory for the Jaffna Kings.
