The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a significant stride in revitalizing the national cricket team by appointing Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie as head coaches for the Test and white-ball teams.

Kirsten, renowned for his strategic prowess, will lead the limited overs format, including the impending ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, while Gillespie, the former Australian pace sensation, will steer the Test team.

This decision comes amidst a backdrop of restructuring following Pakistan's disappointing fifth-place finish in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The appointments mark a shift in focus towards rejuvenating the team's performance and bringing stability to the coaching setup after recent upheavals.

Gary Kirsten brings a wealth of experience, having previously guided both India and South Africa to cricketing glory. His expertise in nurturing talent and crafting winning strategies bodes well for Pakistan's ambitions in shorter formats.

On the other hand, Jason Gillespie's formidable cricketing acumen, honed through his illustrious playing career and coaching stints, promises to fortify Pakistan's Test team.

With his emphasis on authenticity and enjoyment, Gillespie aims to infuse a sense of joy and flair into the team's performance, aiming to captivate fans worldwide.

The appointment of Azhar Mahmood, a former Pakistan all-rounder, as the assistant coach across formats further underscores the PCB's commitment to fostering a cohesive coaching unit.
